Wonderful film. See it. Remember that it only covers his life up to the point where he sought help to overcome his additions.

He says that he had no part in casting.

I felt that only one of the people in his life was portrayed sympathetically- Bernie Taupin, his lyricist. Can it be a coincidence that the role went to Jamie Bell, whose stunning “Billy” in the film must surely have part of the reason for it’s success?
